Hot Issue- MSI Update
Following the widespread failure of university systems last week at the onset of the semester, many members and non-members contacted the NTEU elected officers registering their extreme dissatisfaction with the situation. It is evident that this is not a one-off incident or failure. Fundamental to this situation has been the lack of adequate consultation with the staff, students and internal sections of the University. We have not encountered before either the extent of the failures nor the breadth and depth of feeling arising from it. Consequently the NTEU CSU Branch has formulated a plan to deal with this involving the following steps:
· Lunchtime members meetings next Monday 15 March 2010 at each of the three main campuses, Albury, Bathurst and Wagga – places and times to be confirmed;
· Each meeting will vote on sending the following open letter to the VC – the time of the vote will be publicised shortly;
· If the VC does not respond appropriately with the 10 day time frame proposed, a wider campaign will be announced and implemented.
