NTEU Organisation
The Union's structure
Most of the Union's members are university employees, but the NTEU also covers workers in adult and community education in Victoria, general (PACCT) staff inthe TAFE system in Victoria, and employees of professional training and research institutes, university companies and student unions around the country.
NTEU is a democratic organisation, with structures and processes designed to maximise membership participation and control. To find out more about how the Union works, click onthe links below. NTEU members are organised through workplace branches, each of which is part of a State or Territory Division, and in turn, part of the National Union. At Branch, Division and National levels, there are officers and executive members elected by the membership to do the day-to-day work of the Union.
There are also general meetings at each Branch, and broader elected councils at Division and National levels. The annual National Councilis the highest decision-making body of the Union.
The Union also employs staff at various levels to provide professional and administrative support to members.
