The NTEU has set up a range of commitees and working parties to guide the Union in its work.

| Australian Universities' Review (AUR) Editorial Board | AUR, a refereed journal dealing with current education policy debates, is produced by a Board consisting of interested members. |
| Education Policy Committee | The Education Policy Committee comprises 10 members and is elected from the membership by National Council every two years. |
| Education Training & Development Advisory Board | The Education, Training & Development Advisory Board was established in 2005 to oversee the NTEU national education and training program. |
| Research Policy Committee | The Research Policy Committee comprises 10 members and is elected from the membership by National Council every two years. |
| Women's Action Committee | The NTEU Committee responsible for women's issues and campaigns. |
