  3. UTAS Proposal for Academic Workloads

    It’s taken more than 5 months, but UTAS management have finally tabled a clause to cover Academic Workloads, and they have proposed removing the Academic Workload Guidelines! 

    The NTEU has always taken the view that agreed and transparent criteria for the allocation of workload is essential to maintaining an appropriate balance of research, teaching and administrative loads, and that adequately resourcing staff is a necessary pre-condition for improved performance in research and quality teaching.

  5. Funding Cuts - rally and postcard signing

    Hundreds of protestors in Hobart and Launceston yesterday called for the restoration of the latest $2.3bn cuts to university and student funding.

    The protests, organised by the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) and the Tasmanian University Union with support from the National Union of Students and the Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations as part of national action in all capital cities and some regional centres, urged Federal MPs to follow the lead of the Greens and independent MP Andrew Wilkie and vote against the enabling legislation for the cuts.
