Swinburne Online - It's On
In early December NTEU wrote to the Vice-Chancellor requesting a series of undertakings in relation to the Swinburne Online (SOL) initiative and the effects it was having on staff. On the eve of the Christmas shutdown, HR Director Sally Eastoe responded to NTEU with a series of concerning statements. Both NTEU and Senior Management correspondence can be found below.
NTEU is now preparing its response to the ongoing breaches of the legal obligations of the University. Large staff meetings in the weeks before Christmas indicated how serious a concern this matter is for Lilydale staff, and we are now receiving advice from members at other campuses about just how this major change is affecting you.
Because of the widespread effects of SOL, our legal response will be complemented by a major campaign. To this end, we will be holding a member event at Lilydale on 22nd of February at 10:30AM in LA209, and will be rolling out meetings across the other campuses in coming weeks. Please attend these meetings for advice on the next stage of our legal response, and to get involved in the new NTEU campaign to ensure your intellectual and moral rights are properly acknowledged by Swinburne University and its private joint venture, Swinburne Online.
