Unions & UB announce new Collective Agreement
Under the draft Agreement, Academic and General staff will receive salary increases of 10.9% (compound) in four instalments from September 2008 to January 2010. The Agreement also includes significant improvements in conditions for casual and sessional staff, improved workloads management, superannuation, and a commitment to significantly improving employment opportunities for members of the Indigenous community."The University is delighted to join with the combined unions in announcing this new Agreement for our staff," Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Battersby, said."All parties have come together to produce an Agreement that we are confident will have the support of staff and one which recognises their contribution through appropriate salary increases.""This is an historic Agreement," Matthew McGowan, Victorian Secretary of the NTEU, said today. "The benefits of this Agreement point to a significantly improved climate at the University of Ballarat after the difficulties of 2005. We are glad to recommend this Agreement to our members and our National Executive."The National Tertiary Education Union and other unions representing staff will take the proposed Agreement to their members for ratification on August 27.
