Regional Loading submission - 26 Feb 2010

Posted 26 February 2010 by NTEU (NTEU National Office)

NTEU submission to DEEWR on its Review of Regional Loading Issues for Regional Provision issues paper.

As part of its reform agenda, the Australian Government has sought to examine the cost of providing higher education in regional Australia, in particular the appropriateness of regional loading. The objective of the review was to develop options for a new, more logical basis for funding.

NTEU’s submission highlighted the vital role regional institutions play within their communities, with responsibilities beyond the core functions of teaching and research. It also focused on issues concerning the definition of regional institutions, regional funding models and the importance of regional institutions in improving tertiary education access for low Socio-Economic Status (SES) students.
