Equal pay for community workers

Posted 8 June 2011 by Jane Maze (ACT Division)

Fair Work Australia recently determined that social and community sector workers are underpaid and that this is because most staff in this field are women. It was an important win, but FWA has not yet made a ruling that actually mandates better pay.

Across the country today social and community sector workers and their allies from many unions, cluding the NTEU, rallied to demand that the government fund fair pay in their sector.

Here are some pictures of the Canberra rally and NTEU members there.
