Victorian TAFE Association won’t launch legal action against TAFE protest stop-work
The Victorian TAFE Association, the body that represents Victorian TAFE institutions, says it will not launch legal action to try to stop the 24 hour TAFE protest stop work on Thursday (20 September).
ABC News reported this morning: “TAFE Association executive director David Williams is refusing to endorse the strike because it will disrupt students.
“But he says TAFE managers understand why staff feel the need to take action. ‘We are not surprised that they've called for that action or that they've convened a rally on Thursday in the context of the leaked documents last week,’ he said.
"’It's understandable that they'd be concerned about the contents of those documents’."
“The documents, leaked to ABC News last week, indicate the cuts will be much more extensive than originally anticipated. The document says some campuses may be sold or closed and the number of courses on offer could be cut even further.”
