University Negotiations over Mission Compacts to begin in early 2011
The Federal Government is working with each university to develop a Mission Compact that defines its particular mission and describes how it will fulfil that mission and support the Government's policy goals.
We understand that each university will be expected to begin negotiating its Mission Compact with senior staff from each Minister’s Department in February 2011, with a view to completing the negotiations by April 2011.
We are encouraging branches to contact university management and seek further engagement around this issue. To assist branches in coming to terms with Compacts, National Office has posted materials to the NTEU staff portal. If you have an interest in the implications of Mission Compacts for your institution, we would encourage you to contact your local branch and division.
Government has released a draft compact template, available here. Attached below is some National Office advice about the implications of Compacts in relation to the allocation of student places based upon student demand, and an overview of the Compacts template.
