Research KPIs disadvantage staff in FSTE
The Faculty of Science Technology and Engineering 'Research KPI' scheme places unrealistic research expectations on academics with disturbing implications for their workloads, promotion prospects, reputation and academic freedom.
NTEU seeks to have the FSTE Research KPIs withdrawn, or for the scheme to be significantly reworked to take into consideration both methodological and equity concerns. Our viewpoint is set out in a Discussion Paper which analyses citation data collected for over 40,000 articles in the Information Systems and Statistics disciplines. The paper has received an initial response from the Faculty (both published below).
