An extract from the article: Queensland's Education Minister Rod Welford says concern about declining student numbers prompted a Treasury review of the Central Queensland University (CQU).
However he says he is still confident of the university's future.
"All indications to me are that the university is still quite strong, but the federal minister Julia Gillard and I agreed that it was probably helpful to the university if we sat down with them and worked on a future strategy," he said.
