Research Training

The CQU Branch made a submission to the Inquiry into research training and research workforce issues in Australian universities on Friday, 13 June 2008. The inquiry  is being conducted by the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Innovation whose terms of reference can be found here.

The submission was facilitated by the NTEU CQU Branch through consultation with a number of academics in diverse disciplines and from diverse and remote locations. The submission focuses on the specific challenges faced by regional universities in building strong research capacity. Specific experiences are evidenced in support of the recommendations.

We envision an effective system of research training being inclusive and supportive of the significant contribution to local communities that research in regional universities can deliver.
