2000 – Carole Ferrier – UQ

Who could be more in Emma Miller's tradition of tireless campaigning for women's and workers' rights than Carole Ferrier, Emma with her metal hatpins, Carole with her intellectual ones?  Carole joined what is now the NTEU in 1975 shortly after starting work at the University of Queensland.  Since then, she has "always been there," at every meeting, demonstration, or picket line on union or related political business,(civil rights, abortion rights, land rights, SEQEB, MUA) that anyone can remember.  Carole's contribution as a very active rank and file member has included membership of the Industrial Action Group and over ten years as a department delegate; her participatory style has inspired many, especially women.  For your service in the cause of duty, your refusal to underestimate opponents, and all the good times, Carole, here's real power to your hatpin!
