Collective Bargaining 2008

NTEU-Q Campaigns

NTEU members make a tremendous contribution to both their university and their wider community. A major focus for the NTEU-Queensland Division is providing support to members who are active in social, community and political campaigns.

Casual Staff Campaign The NTEU has resolved to gain significant improvements for casual staff during the 2008 round of Enterprise Bargaining.
Humanities at QUT The Vice Chancellor of QUT announced on 20 April, proposals including the closue of the Bachellor or Arts and Social Science degrees at QUT. The NTEU is absolutely opposed to the removal of Humanities and Social Sciences from QUT programmes, and is conducting a major campaign , together with staff from the affected school, to ensure that this proposal is rejected by QUT management. Medical Staff Campaign around the improvement of the situation for Medical staff in Qld., and the involvement of the NTEU in this issue. Download a reolution from Qld NTEU Council in Feb 2006
Research staff campaign The NTEU recognises the importance of improving the working conditions for research staff, and organises activities to address this at each branch.
Protecting Regional Universities A proposal for government funding of new scholarships and centres of excellence at regional universities such as JCU
Queensland Tertiary Education Alliance The QTEA is a coalition of student, trade union and community groups that has come together to promote the benefits of accessible, quality, public education.
Stolen Wages The National Tertiary Education Union (Queensland) is supporting a public campaign for justice for the generations of Aboriginal workers whose wages were stolen by the Queensland government.
Justice for refugees NTEU members are active in campaigns for a just and humanitarian refugee policy. Refugees should be welcomed to Australia, not locked in detention.
