Taking bargaining to Uni Council
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING 08 – FIGHTING FOR YOUR CONDITIONS
In May of this year NTEU served a log of claims on the management of the University of Wollongong as part of the process to negotiate a new Collective Agreement for all staff at the University. Management have refused to meet to discuss the claims.
Since September NTEU has held regular bargaining meetings in central locations around the university and invited management to participate. They have not shown up. We are now taking our bargaining to the University Council and inviting all members to attend (see details below).
Staff are fed up with the refusal of University management to commence good faith bargaining with NTEU prior to the expiry of the current Collective Agreements, a situation that leaves staff vulnerable.
Staff are fed up with the refusal of University management to restore the workplace conditions lost as a consequence of the Howard Government’s Higher Education reforms (HEWRRs) and reversed by the current government.
It is time that staff at this University were given a fair go and their rights to fair treatment restored.
