Hume
As at 19 October the declared candidates for the electorate of Hume are:
|
Jim Clark - Greens Jim Clark, who lives in the Southern Highlands village of Bundanoon and is a Greens councillor on Wingecarribee Council, is the Greens candidate for Hume. Important issues in Hume electorate are- Climate Change and the lack of response by the Federal Government to the problems it presents, including rising sea levels, decreased rainfall, the threat to agriculture and increased risk of bushfire. Also the underfunding by the Howard government of Public education including Univesities and TAFE, as well as unfair WorkChoices laws which particularly affect young people. An major part of the Greens campaign will be to support Kerry Nettle for re-election to the Senate for NSW." Even if Labor wins Government they will not hold the balance of power in the Senate. The Greens are needed to restore the role of the Senate as a check on the Government". |

Lindsay Cosgrove - Citizens Electoral Council Lindsay Cosgrove is from the Taralga district. He’s taking a stand to oppose the disaster of globalisation and support nation building infrastructure. The world now faces an economic catastrophe—one uniquely forecast by U.S. physical economist, Lyndon LaRouche and the CEC, despite non-stop claims of prosperity. Our family farmers must be saved by enacting a debt moratorium and abolishing "environmental flows" that deny farmers water and endanger our food security. Radical environmentalism and associated swindles such as the mythical man-made global warming threat must be opposed. Establishing a national government-run bank to issue new credit for urgently needed infrastructure will play a crucial role in reasserting our national sovereignty, including rejecting the insane policies of free trade and deregulation. Nuclear power, new dams, desalination and super-fast maglev trains will be essential to build a strong economy for the next generation. Our health and education sectors also require big funding increases. |

David Grant - Australian Labor Party David Grant is a small business person and has been self employed for most of his working life. He has worked as a software developer, consultant and business analyst in his family owned business for the last twenty years. Before that he was a carpenter/builder so brings a broad base of business and professional skills. Father of four with four grandchildren, family is a dominant element of David’s life. He grew up in central west NSW and knows first hand the impact of drought and a struggling rural economy on country towns. He has a great concern for working people in country towns and wants to ensure townspeople are not denied a fair go for all as WorkChoices and the drought bite harder. David has had a life-long passion for social justice and joined Labor three years out of concern for where the Howard years had taken Australia. He brings a freshness of view and an enthusiasm for an Australia again generous of spirit and just in nature. |

Geoff Peet - Christian Democrats I am a happily married father of four, a Deputy Principal and the CDP Candidate for Hume. I have chosen to contest the seat of Hume to give voters a balanced option in this election. The CDP stands for the values I grew up with. A strong family. A community in which respect, honesty and truth are valued. Political leaders with integrity, courage, conviction and concern enough to put people before the party. Finding real solutions to the very real problems facing 21st century Australia Increasingly these are the values that the broader electorate is crying out for! That’s why, unlike any other party, the Christian Democratic Party allows me to represent you. Every time! Every vote is a conscience vote. Every time! I can’t turn this state around on my own. But, with your number 1 vote, and if we keep in touch, then together we can make the difference we have always wanted to make. It’s going to be a long haul, but we can do it. |
