Email advice regarding the AWA offers
Below is the text of an email sent from the NTEU USC Branch President to NTEU members on the 6th of July 2006. If you'd like further advice on this issue please contact the NTEU.
Dear NTEU member,
Last week University Management sent a letter to many USC staff
regarding Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs). I've received
a number of enquiries from staff in my role as Branch President
so I'd like to confirm for all staff the advice most commonly
being sought.
Currently, staff are employed under the conditions of the
USC Certified Agreement 2004 - 2008. This is the set of conditions
that is negotiated between the University Management and the NTEU.
*If you take no action at all you will remain under the protection
of the Certified Agreement.*
If you'd like to view some information regarding AWAs from the
NTEU website you can do so at this link:
http://www.nteu.org.au/rights/awa/faq
If you still wish to contemplate an AWA you need to contact Human
Resources, however I would strongly urge you to seek the advice of
the Union first. The NTEU cannot imagine how staff members at USC
can benefit from an AWA but the NTEU would like the opportunity to
speak to members about the process if they are interested.
If you'd like to speak to the NTEU regarding AWAs please call
Angela Scheers on 07 3846 2355 or 0438 134 396.
Regards,
Elizabeth Eddy
USC NTEU branch president
