Universities are being re-shaped, and none more than CQUniversity. How and by what means? Compacts with the Federal government will set a new policy agenda, and targets will be negotiated to effect pervasive change. These changes will impact on staff. NTEU members and CQUnioversity staff were informed about Compacts at the Forum led by Paul Kneist.
The Federal government has provided more money for the higher education sector ($5.7b in new programs over four years), however not all instiutions will share equally in the distribution of program funding. Mission based compacts have been set up to ensure diversity, and to allow universities to plan for stable expansion and growth over time. Paul said, "Compacts put universities into a position in which they decide what their mission will be into the future".
