First Meeting With a Potential Activist

Introductions
Introduce yourself, explain the reasons for your meeting and develop some rapport with the person.

Familiarisation
Ask about the person’s job, their work area and any concerns they have. Ask questions and listen, get to know them as a person.

Educate the staff member
Discuss the virtues of collective solutions and build a feeling of optimism about resolving concerns in this way.

Find out more
Seek further information about the work area.

Get a commitment to further activity
No matter how small!  This allows the person begins to get involved in building a better work area without feeling pressured or overwhelmed.

Identify other potential activists
Seek the names of other members who may be potential activists.
