Position Description Workshops for General Staff
Module Overview
This lunchtime or 2 hour workshop is designed specifically for general staff who are required to develop position documentation for classification/evaluation purposes.
While much of the advice and some of the strategies are generic to all processes, these workshops are developed in conjunction with the Branch to ensure local processes and documentation are incorporated into the module.
Module Objectives
By the end of this module participants will be able to:
- Outline the key elements of the local classification process, with particular reference to the documentation required
- Explain the key differences between skills and tasks and how this applies to the way in which a position might be described.
- List some key steps to take in the lead up to, and during the development of, position documentation
- Understand the importance of language in the development of position documentation
- List some strategies and tips for maximising the chances of a favourable classification outcome
