Welcome to the National Tertiary Education Union's Indigenous homepage.
NTEU is committed to the advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Australian tertiary education system. This includes the lobbying of Universities to include fair and equitable provisions relating to Indigenous Australian workers within their Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, raising the profile of Indigenous issues across the union structure, and advising Indigenous members, as well as Divisions and University Branches on a number of issues.
The National Indigenous Unit and the Indigenous Policy Committee (IPC) oversee the development and implementation of Indigenous policy across all levels of the Union.
NTEU publishes a twice-yearly newsletter for Indigenous members, called Yarn.
NTEU convenes the annual Indigenous Forum to provide Indigenous members with the opportunity to develop policy recommendations on Indigenous Higher Education.
The current National Indigenous officers are Adam Frogley (National Indigenous Coordinator) and Celeste Liddle (National Indigenous Organiser). Adam is a Taungerong man from Healesville in Melbourne’s outer east. Celeste is an Arrernte woman from Central Australia.
