Delegates, Active Members, and YOU

Posted 14 February 2012 by Charlie Sanders (Swinburne University of Technology)

Swinburne staff are joining the NTEU in droves (NTEU Swinburne etymological word of the fortnight!) to take part in the most active campaign schedule the University has seen in decades. To keep up with the numbers, we need enthusiastic and committed members and activists to step up to the plate and get endorsed as Delegates. You may have been acting in a Delegate role for months or years but have never been formally endorsed, or you might be a new member eager for adventure and glory in the union movement – either way, endorsement is for you, and it comes with specialised, funded, and off-the-job Delegate Training, a shiny badge, a special hat, and a pony*.

Think you’re the right person to represent your fellow members? Know someone else you’d like to dob in? Contact Branch Organiser Charlie Sanders and we’ll arrange a meeting of members in your area to formally endorse your Chosen One (or Ones – the more delegates, the merrier).

Charlie can be contacted on 0431 399 110 or csanders@nteu.org.au.

*Note: all ponies are fictional in nature.

[ 0 ] With the Skills Vic funding cut backs staff are becoming more concerned about their workplace welfare and security within the Vic TAFE education sector. With reduction in TAFE staff numbers in 2011 there are concerns that TAFE staff numbers again be reduced further and the lucky staff that stay will be expected to fill the work load gaps. The increasing NTEU member numbers really highlights the anticipated deteriation of our tertiary education sector in Victoria. NTEU presence at our workplace needs to be increased to support the membership growth and the probible devistation of the Skills VIC funding impact.
