Information sheet on Equal Pay Day and the current status of pay equity in Australia, together with Equal Pay Day events dates and venues nationally (September 4th 2010).
Equal Pay Day is a national event that is held to illustrate the number of extra days many women have to work after the end of the financial year in order to earn the same amount as men. This year it is scheduled for 4th September, because, on average, women will earn 18% less than men this year.
In recognition of this day, there are a number of events planned around the country by the Equal Pay Alliance. The Equal Pay Alliance includes the ACTU, the Australian Federation of Business and Professional Women group, the Women and Work Research group of academics and EOWA. NTEU is also a supporter of the Alliance, and encourages our members to be involved in local Equal Pay Day events.
Please find attached an NTEU fact sheet which has general pay equity info and lists the events around the country.
People interested in attending these events should contact the relevant organising group, or can go to the Equal Pay Day website for more information at the Equal Pay Day website.
For more information on Equal Pay Day please contact either NTEU National Office or the ACTU. You can also download flyers and posters advertising the day from here.
