As you will be aware from the Vice Chancellor’s announcement, bargaining has concluded and agreement has been reached between the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) and The University of Notre Dame Australia. Both the NTEU negotiating team (which included the NTEU Division Secretary Dr Lyn Bloom as well as Jan Harmsen from the Medical library and myself) and the Notre Dame negotiating team have invested significant time and energy to conclude our first Agreement. This Agreement provides a number of important advantages for staff which will be detailed in our NTEU Newsletter which you will receive with this message. You will also receive a hard copy of this Newsletter.
I would like to affirm each member’s support for our committee. Thank you for your patience and your ongoing dedication to improving staff conditions at the University. I think as a result of this new Agreement we will have a positive outcome for staff and therefore for the broader University community. As an NTEU member you have directly contributed to this outcome.
Please make sure that you vote Yes to the Agreement in the upcoming Ballot, and urge your colleagues to vote Yes also.
I would like to thank our NTEU WA Division staff for their consistent support and assistance and also our colleagues at other branches of the NTEU. As a new branch we have benefited significantly from their ongoing support and mentoring as we establish our branch at Notre Dame.
Fremantle Campus members will be having a Members’ Meeting on 15 February 2012. Contact Organiser Amy Talbot at firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP.
There will also be a meeting for Sydney Campus members and other interested Notre Dame Staff at Broadway at 12 noon on 21 February 2012. Please watch for further details but mark this date in your diaries.
