Early Career Development Fellowships - Expressions of Interest Open

One of the significant gains the NTEU made in the 2010 enterprise bargaining round was a clause that is aimed to enhance the career path prospects for eligible casual academic staff. Clause 42.20 in the Academic Staff Agreement establishes an Early Career Development Fellowships (ECDF) scheme where eligible casual academics may be selected for a fixed term full time or fractional two year academic position.
At the end of last year, many casual academics provided evidence to the Union that there were many such eligible casual academics, and the Union wrote to the University arguing for the scheme to be implemented this year. The University has now called for Expressions of Interest for eligible casual academics to register their interest on the University's website. If you are eligible and want to register your interest for an ECDF, you must register your expression of interest on the above website by 20 April, 2012 – follow the link from www.hru.uts.edu.au/for/academics/ecdf.html. Note: this Expression of Interest is a University process – even if you registered your interest with the Union, you MUST now register your interest with the University if you wish to be considered.
Branch representatives will be meeting with University representatives at the end of April to discuss details of the implementation.
Improving career paths prospects for casual academics is an important priority for the Union. You can participate in the Union's work by informing eligible colleagues about this scheme, and encouraging them to officially register their expression of interest.
