Resolutions
At the members meetingof Tuesday 1 June 2010, the Murdoch Branch passed the following 3 motions with regard to Murdoch's Review of the Academic Enterprise.
o This meeting of the NTEU Murdoch Branch calls upon Murdoch University to ensure that all decisions of the Academic Review (including decisions to rationalise courses, units and staffing) are based upon sound, defensible and transparent academic criteria rather than financial considerations alone.
o This meeting of the NTEU Murdoch Branch notes the centrality of Academic Council in academic decision making and so expresses surprise and disappointment at the absence of the President of Academic Council from the Steering Group of the Academic Review.
This meeting calls upon Murdoch University immediately to invite the President of Academic Council, or her nominee, to join the Steering Group of the Review of the Academic Enterprise.
o This meeting of the NTEU Murdoch Branch agrees that it is essential that staff have a meaningful say in Murdoch’s collective future. Therefore, this meeting calls upon Murdoch University management to engage in real and meaningful consultation with the staff of Murdoch University and the Murdoch community, in accordance with the Managing Organisational Change clauses of the Academic Staff Collective Agreement.
