Branches

Each university has its own NTEU Branch. There are also Sub-Branches (i.e. for ADFA@UNSW) plus Branches for TAFE (Victoria) and Batchelor Institute (NT).

Based at your workplace, your local Branch keeps the Union close to its members. This is where members receive direct support on workplace issues and where bargaining is done.

The Branch facilitates input into University Committees and Council.  It is active around issues such as academic policy, intellectual freedom, equity and funding.

Branch members directly elect, from among their colleagues, a Branch Committee, which manages the Branch and is assisted by local delegates with local workplace knowledge. Each Branch Committee consists of a Branch President, a Branch Secretary, a Vice President (Academic Staff) and a Vice President (General Staff). There are between 5 and 10 regular Branch Committee positions, and one Indigenous position.

Most Branches have a office on campus staffed by a Branch Organiser and all are assisted by Industrial Officers.
