Reports that ABSTUDY is to be abolished are causing serious concern among university
staff, who fear that Indigenous peoples participation in tertiary education will be

Last evening the University of Western Sydney Macarthur Council voted to recommend the
introduction of up front fees to the UWS Board of Trustees (which is the ultimate governing body for
all three UWS network members- Macarthur, Nepean and Hawkesbury).

Work overload in universities could compromise quality

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) has welcomed the national campaign on Work
Overload initiative launched by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) in Melbourne this
week. \"Say No to Work Overload\" is the message of the week long campaign which has been
organised to highlight the increasing problems associated with work overload across a number of
industries.
