SENATE CONSIDERING HIGHER EDUCATION PACKAGE
24 November 2003
This week (24-28 November) the Senate is considering the Higher Education Support Bill the centrepiece of the Governments higher education package.
NTEU National Officers and Staff have been actively involved in discussions with Senators from the opposition parties, and the various independents, to ensure that the Bill, in its current form, does not pass.
Debate on the Bill was adjourned on Tuesday, with much speculation in the media that this was to buy the Government more time to attempt a deal with independent Senators.
The situation is fluid and uncertain, but any dramatic developments will be reported on the NTEU Website.
