VICTORIAN NTEU MEMBERS CAMPAIGN AROUND EB

16 Sept 2004

NTEU members at several Victorian universities are taking action over the coming weeks to put pressure on employers to finalise new Enterprise Agreements, NTEU Victorian Division Secretary Matthew McGowan said today.

“Monash University members have strongly supported the 24 hour stoppage occurring today,” Mr McGowan said. “We anticipate that members at other universities will follow their Monash colleagues in supporting actions at their institution at the appropriate time.”

“Enterprise bargaining negotiations have been taking too long. Members have really no other alternative than to take these sorts of actions, to get the message through to university managements that these Agreements need to be finalised.”

Details of actions occurring at Victorian universities are as follows:

Monash University
Successful 24 hour stoppage on 16 September.

Victoria University of Technology
