National Tertiary Education Union (NSW)

The NTEU (NSW) is seeking to employ Organisers at four Branches of the Union situated at Macquarie University, University of Sydney, University of Technology, Sydney and Charles Sturt University.

The NTEU is a federally registered union with coverage of academic and general staff in higher education. The NTEU (NSW) is responsible for workers in 10 NSW universities and their associated student organisations, research institutes and companies and its membership is growing in all categories.

DUTIES include:

General administration of the Branch, Branch recruitment and campaign activities, maintenance and servicing of Branch delegates’ and other activists’ networks and providing initial assistance to members with simple grievances and disputes.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:    

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent; experience in the trade union movement; commitment to union principles; demonstrated negotiating, advocacy and organising and campaigning skills.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:

Knowledge of the higher education industry; basic word processing; electronic communication skills and driver’s licence.

SALARY:

$46,185 pa - $56,856 pa, plus superannuation (Level 4 or 5 NTEU National Employment Agreement).
