Position Vacant: Communications Officer/Organiser - ACT Division

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents academic and general staff in universities and other tertiary providers throughout Australia.  The ACT Division has members employed at the Australian National University, University of Canberra, Australian Defence Force Academy and Australian Catholic University.

The ACT Division is seeking to appoint a Communications Officer/Organiser to work with other Division staff.  The appointee will be expected to be able to work independently and undertake a wide range of duties, including;

  • Layout, design and, depending on experience, draft publications and information material for delegate and activists groups.
  • Organise and undertake recruitment and campaign activities.
  • Maintain websites, utilise database for publication, distribution and campaign purposes.
  • Assist with industrial issues when required.

The successful applicant will be energetic and enthusiastic and have an appropriate level of computer skills to perform the duties of the position.  Applicants must have a commitment to unionism.  Experience in unions and/or the tertiary sector would be an advantage.

Salary will be in the range of $46,185 to $65,086 depending on skills and/or experience (NTEU level 4 to 6) plus 17% superannuation and generous conditions.
