THE CONTEST FOR RYAN! WHO HAS THE BEST POLICIES FOR OUR UNIVERSITIES?
On Thursday 18 October the candidates for the seat of Ryan will attempt to woo the staff and students at the University of Queensland with their respective parties policies on higher education.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity to assess the major parties policies and attitudes to higher education.” said Andrew Bonnell, the NTEU UQ Branch President.
“Specifically we will be seeking their positions on the funding and accreditation of our public institutions, the Research Quality Framework and the relevance of Academic Freedom. Also of great interest to the audience will be the candidates policies on student fees, student assistance and student representation at the University of Queensland.”

- Jim Page (Democrats)
- Evan Jones (Greens)
- Charles Worringham (Independent).
