UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE ARTS FACULTY CURRICULUM REVIEW

27 September 2007

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) welcomes the release of the University of Melbourne Arts Faculty Curriculum Review (the D’Agostino Report), NTEU Victorian Division Secretary Matthew McGowan said today.

"We will not be making any detailed comment on the report until the educational and staffing impacts are clearer."

"We are pleased that the Faculty is treating it as a Green Paper, and that it intends to conduct a process of consultation with staff before finalising the Review," Mr McGowan said.

"We will now meet and discuss the Review’s report with Arts Faculty members and prepare a response to it that can be considered during the consultation process."

"While the report raises issues that cause initial concern, our members are very keen to accept the new Dean’s invitation to ‘engage and shape the new generation Bachelor of Arts and the future of the Faculty’," Mr McGowan said.
