Messages of Support from MQ and UWS Branches
Message of support from NTEU UWS Branch
The UWS Branch of the NTEU sends its support and solidarity to our colleagues at UNSW in their struggle to undo the damage caused by the Howard Government’s attacks on higher education.
The UNSW Branch’s claim for better regulation of contracts is perfectly reasonable, and UNSW management’s decision to stand down more than 70 staff is an outrageous act of bully-boy tactics, clearly designed to further drag out negotiations and intimidate staff into accepting a substandard agreement.
Once again, we extend our support to you in this struggle and pay tribute to you for your selfless courage and determination.

Letter of Support from Macquarie Branch
Dear Susan and Branch Committee,
The Macquarie Branch extends its support to and solidarity with the UNSW Branch members currently involved in difficult bargaining negotiations. We condemn and deplore UNSW Management for the recent standing down of Union members who took a stand for staff working conditions, and therefore quality education, at your University. We understand that those members have now been reinstated.
We thank you for the strong fight you have maintained throughout bargaining this year, and are encouraged in our own efforts as a result. Consequently, the branch decided to contribute towards the UNSW local hardship fund. No doubt this contribution can be used to reimburse any lost wages or to aid you in further campaign efforts.
Vice-President (General Staff)
