Members to meet over UOW restructure
NTEU members will meet on Wednesday 29 August (12.30pm in room 20.3) to discuss the announcement of a restructure of UOW.
The University's representatives met with the NTEU on Monday (20 August) to begin a process of communication with staff.
NTEU UOW Branch President, Dr Penney McFarlane reported, "Whilst the Univeristy has indicated that there will be 'no net job losses', this is little comfort to the NTEU and its members. Restructuring and 'realigning' of faculties will likely lead to redundancies among roles, in particular those of the General Staff. The University says that it is seeking to address any duplications and overlaps of roles through 'natural attrition' and has provided no indication of any process it will adopt to achieve this"
The NTEU will continue to ensure that ongoing issues are being addressed under the current Enterprise agreement and that members concerns are not ignored during this time of restructure.
