Delegates

Delegates are a vital part of our union. For many university staff, delegates are the most visible part of the NTEU and their first point of contact with the Union. Delegates build the strength of the Union in their local workplace. They organise meetings, help recruit new members, encourage other members to become active, and advocate on behalf of their members.

Because of the important role you play, we want to ensure our delegates and activists feel trained, confident and supported in their union work—which is why we've created the following resources for you.

Delegates Handbook

NTEU NSW Delegates Handbook provides information and resources to help you in your role as a delegate. It is based on the experiences of NTEU members and staff, and contains information about how to approach colleagues to join, organise workplace meetings and build around workplace issues. It also has further information about the training and support available to our delegates.

To get a copy of the Handbook, contact your local Branch Office and arrange a time to meet with the Branch Organiser. For all other sites, contact the NSW Division Office on nsw@nteu.org.au.
