    The decision to make these 3 staff redundant has lacked both transparency and respect. Important information about proposed changes to the Department of Fine Art and the staff cuts has been withheld, including the results of a secret profiling of staff from the department. Staff were never informed of the profiling nor allowed to have input into this process.

    Management have sought to avoid a serious discussion with staff about the proposed changes that may have allowed staff to put forward alternatives to staff being made redundant.

    Although the changes are being justified on the basis of a budget deficit, figures suggest that management has over-spent in a number of areas including an un-budgeted $400, 000 on external consultants for unknown reasons.

    Managements handling of the restructure process in MADA sets a worrying precedent for all Monash staff.
