BACKING AUSTRALIA’S ABILITY - OVERVIEW AND ANALYSIS On May 6, the Federal Government released its long awaited science and innovation package, Backing Australia’s Ability II (BAAII). This extends many of the initiatives in the original Backing Australia’s Ability package which were due to expire in 2005, to 2011, and introduces a number of new initiatives. The following analysis of the BAAII package is split into two parts: · an overview of the package’s key themes and the implications for research staff in public universities, and · an item by item analysis of the BAAII
