Early Career Development Fellowships (ECDF) - UTS registration closes tomorrow

Posted 19 April 2012 by Belinda Viset (University of Technology Sydney)

CASUAL MEMBERS – REGISTER ECDF ELIGIBILITY BY 20 APRIL

One of the significant gains the NTEU made in the 2010 enterprise bargaining round was a clause which aims to enhance the career path prospects for eligible casual academic staff. Clause 42.20 in the Academic Staff Agreement establishes an Early Career Development Fellowships (ECDF) scheme.

At the end of last year, many casual academics provided evidence to the Union that there were many such eligible casual academics, and the Union wrote to the University arguing for the scheme to be implemented this year. The University has now called for Expressions of Interest for eligible casual academics to register their interest. See instructions and information at: www.hru.uts.edu.au/for/academics/ecdf.html

If you are eligible and want to register your interest for an ECDF, you must register your expression of interest on the above website by 20 April, 2012.

NOTE: This Expression of Interest is a University process – you MUST officially register with the University even if you have registered with the NTEU.

However the NTEU still wants, and will benefit from, copies of eligibility forms from casuals who aren’t already on the NTEU UTS Branch register. Contact Belinda Viset, Branch Organiser (nteu@uts.edu.au) to add a copy of your application to the existing branch register.

Assist your Union by encouraging eligible casuals to register with the University, join the NTEU, and add a copy of their eligibility forms to the branch's register of evidence.
