Greater Specialisation of Academic Work
Greater specialisation in academic roles
Professor Frank Larkins, has published an interesting paper on staffing trends at Australian universities since 20002. Despite the fact that the analysis excludes casual staff, the results show that there has been significant increases in research only and teaching only academic staff with a subsequent decline in the proportion of teaching and research staff.
Further information including a copy of the paper, Professor Emeritus Frank Larkins (October 2011) Academic Staffing Trends: At what cost to teaching and learning excellence? can be downloaded from the LH Martin Institute website (www.ihmartininstitute.edu.au).
