Workplace Bullying public hearing in Melbourne

Posted 13 July 2012 by Stan Rosenthal (Monash University)

The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Education and Employment is conducting a review into workplace bullying.  It held a public hearing in Melbourne on 11 July 2012.

Monash Branch made a written submission which remains under embargo at this time.  If you are interested in obtaining a copy, please email Stan Rosenthal (srosenthal@nteu.org.au) with the subject line “Bullying Report”.  We will also let all members know when the submission is cleared for release.

A fuller report of the Melbourne public hearing is at Parliamentary Committee enquires into workplace bullying

[ +3 ] Workplace bullying can happen in any workplace. It is a scourge on society as a whole which causes enormeous damage. It destroys careers, ruins health, wrecks confidence, incurs huge economic cost and untold other damage.
It is well past time that governments formally recognised workplace abuse and bullying for the damage it causes and rewarded it with what it deserves - serious gaol time! Unfortunately, until that happens, this problem will never go away.
