FASTS welcomes decision to abandon ERA journal rankings
I'd like to draw members' attention to comments made by Federation of Scientific and Technological Societies (FASTS) President, Dr Cathy Foley, about the decision to abandon the ERA journal rankings.
Members should note FASTS strong concerns about the misuse of the ERA to rearrange staffing in universities. Yesterday, Dr Foley stated, “Particularly concerning have been the inappropriate use of the ERA rankings to determine staffing arrangements in universities. It is hoped the refinements to the ERA process will put a stop to these issues.”
