Paid Maternity Leave

Maternity leave is back on the agenda as part of the ongoing struggle for substantive fairness for working women. In the current "round" of enterprise bargaining in higher education, NTEU has made improving paid maternity leave one of its key priority claims. This has resulted in significant improvements, ranging between 26 and 36 weeks' paid maternity leave for most staff in tertiary education - making tertiary education the leading sector on maternity leave in the Australian economy.
