Fair Work Australia Outcome Today

Posted 14 December 2010 by Cat Coghlan (Macquarie University)

Just got off the phone to the NTEU NSW State Secretary who's been at the FWA hearing.
In short, the members will be asked to vote on some options for lifting some bans tomorrow at the General Meeting at 1pm in X5B T1. If members reject what is put to them we will be back in at FWA tomorrow afternoon.
The members will decide, which is a win because the alternative would have been for FWA to straight out make a ruling directing the NTEU to lift bans.
NTEU MQ members - get along to the meeting and have your say!!!
On another note, it's becoming clear that there are significant numbers of members who have been stood down but have not yet notified their Union or sought financial support.  Could you please email us so that we have an accurate idea of the numbers of people stood down, and so that when/if you do need financial support, we can quickly put that in place?

[ +8 ] although i am not directly involved- am located at another uni- i support your stance. last year i took part in a similar action. as a sessional academic witholding results had no financial penalty attached to it for me- i was paid per lecture therefore i was prepared to hold out for as long as it took. good luck and hope the management realises the ethical implications of their tactics
