Academic Workloads - Negotiations Finalised

Posted 13 December 2011 by Josh Cullinan (Swinburne University of Technology)

NTEU has finalised the negotiations with Swinburne University senior management over the Academic Workload Framework which will form the basis of Faculty Workload Models. The negotiations were finalised recently and NTEU expects the final version of the framework to be forwarded to all negotiating parties this afternoon.

Once we receive this document we will be organising meetings with members to explain in detail what it means for your Faculty, your Department and your workload. Obviously the framework may need minor further refining to deal with local issues. We have agreed with senior management of the University to trial the framework and assess the impact on workloads. We will be meeting with management next week to finalise these arrangements.

[ -1 ] Have to look at the increased workloads falling on bothe sessionals and the ongoing staff. This is the tip of the proverbial ice-berg with the uncapping of student places in 2012. Hope model not set in 'stone'.
