Monash college facing restructure

Posted 16 February 2012 by John Pezy (Flinders University)

Since late last year, Monash College has been facing a restructure with several positions of Academic Manager and Program Coordinator effectively being abolished and replaced by lower classified positions.

Delegates, members and NTEU officials have fought hard to protect these jobs and consultation continues after NTEU notified a dispute to ensure that it would. This has now pushed out management timing for commencing the new structure from mid-February to June/July, plus a monetary allowance has been introduced for some of the positions where none was initially provided.

We still retain considerable concerns about management’s plans and their impact upon staff and teaching quality.  Management is losing patience and has recently notified Fair Work Australia that they want that tribunal to resolve the issues between us. For more information please contact your local delegate or the Branch Office on 9905 4110 or nteu@monash.edu.au.
