Professional Development Seminar for Casual and Sessional Academics

Posted 23 March 2011 by Atosha McCaw (Vic Division)

After the success of last years seminar the NTEU Victorian Division is running another professional developement seminar for casual and sessional academics on Friday 25 March. For many casual and sessional academics, finding full-time ongoing employment can be difficult. Universities are increasingly relying on casual and sessional academics to perform the bulk of student teaching, while many fixed-term academics are locked into short-term contracts while doing long-term research projects. The NTEU recognises the high levels of skill and professional integrity casuals bring to our universities.

This Professional Development Seminar will provide you with the information and knowledge that you need to break into permanent academic employment. Attendees will hear frank and fearless advice from some of Australia’s leading academics and university administrators – advice that will help you get ahead of the pack when you apply for your next ongoing position.
