In 2012, Australian universities will undergo substantial changes with the introduction of the Demand Driven System. The new regulatory environment based on quality assessment under a new standards based system will be rolled out under the auspices of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). These are the most substantive changes to the funding and regulation of the sector since the creation of the Unified National System in 1989.
